Clothing Drive Set for Manahan/Beverly Residents Affected by Irene
Berit Ollestad, friend of Patch and organizer of several charitable events in the area, including the Morristown Community Relief Effort, has teamed up with friends in the Manahan Village and Beverly Apartments, who were particularly affected by Hurricane Irene in August. They will be conducting a clothing drive from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1, with place tickets to be handed out starting at 1 p.m.
Ollestad's call for donations is below:
As many of you know this was an area that was significantly impacted by Irene. So, it got me thinking that I am in a position to coordinate a clothing drive of sorts to help out this part of our community. I'm primarily accepting infant, children's and teen clothing in nearly new and good condition. But other items that would be appreciated would be shoes, toys, small housewares, etc.
If anyone is interested in contributing there are one of two ways for me to collect the items. Either you are welcome to drop them on my front porch (please email me for address or simply drop by tomorrow and say hello and you can leave your donation at the site). Anyone is welcome to donate but it is my hope to only allow the residents of Manahan Village and Beverly Apartments to participate.
I really have no idea what type of turnout to expect and would like to make it a worthwhile event for the community there. If you have any questions or comments, please contact me and I will get back to you just as soon as I can. Thanks in advance for your consideration and more important thank you for your help in the past. That is after all how you wound up receiving this email in the first place, because you have helped me before. Please feel free to pass this email along to anyone that you think might be interested.
