Leadership Morris Sponsors Food Drive at Picnic With a Purpose

Morris Plains, NJ:  Leadership Morris, a community education program of the Morris County Chamber of Commerce, is sponsoring a food drive to help fill the
shelves at the Interfaith Food Pantry and Resource Center during the summer months. “The drive was scheduled during the summer to coincide with a time when school is out and the Pantry often receives requests for additional items from families with school age children,” explained Lee Moreau, co-chair of the Leadership Morris Alumni Council. “At the same time, many of the groups that conduct food drives for the Pantry, such as scouts and civic groups
are on vacation. Leadership Morris members and alumni are well aware of the challenges faced by the Pantry and the thousands of households in Morris County who seek their help, and we’re dedicated to helping out and making a positive difference.”  The group is hoping that the
upcoming “Picnic with a Purpose” will help meet its goal of gathering 2,000 pounds of food by July 31.  The Leadership Morris board expects about 65 members and alumni to attend, and is asking participants to bring non-perishable goods. The picnic  will be held Tuesday, July 17th at 4:30
at the Central Park of Morris County, located in the former Greystone complex in Parsippany. The Pantry is conveniently located across the street.

The public is welcome to participate by dropping off food donations at the Pantry at 2 Executive Drive, Morris Plains from 9:30-4:30 Monday-Thursday, by purchasing food online through retailer YouGiveGoods.com, or by making a financial contribution at www.mcifp.org.
