Morris freeholders start road trip in Morris Plains
The Morris County Freeholders this year will continue to take
some of their regular public meetings on the road.
The first will be Wednesday, May 25, when
the board’s regular public meeting will be conducted in the Morris Plains
Municipal Building,
531 Speedwell Ave.,
starting at 7:30 p.m.
Freeholder Director William Chegwidden said the freeholders
are continuing a practice that began is 2007.
“Leaving
Morristown, the
county seat, and going on the road these past four years has given the
freeholders the chance to meet face-to-face and to exchange ideas with local
officials, and we look forward to doing the same this year,” Chegwidden said.
It also makes it more
convenient for residents of those communities to attend
one of our meetings, to meet the freeholders and to learn more about Morris County
government and the services it offers, Chegwidden said.
Besides Morris Plains,
the freeholders plan to conduct public meetings this year in East Hanover,
Chester Borough, Mountain Lakes, Mendham Borough, Victory Gardens
and Wharton.
Since the freeholders began
the practice of travelling meetings, they have been in 28 of the 39 towns in
the county.
