Morris Women's Rugby Makes Nationals!

  • July 26, 2012

Representing Morristown, NJ the women's 7's squad have spent the summer honing our 7s skills on the pitch. All summer, we have attended eight tournaments in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Connecticut, and most recently New York, where we secured our spot at nationals in California.

After weeks of practice in the grueling heat and fighting through injuries, it was exciting to see our hard work pay off. Over the summer, we have placed 3rd or 4th in the majority of tournaments and five of our players were invited to try out for the NRU All-Star 7s team.

With nationals less than 2 weeks away, the Morris Women are busy preparing for the trip and our competition but we cannot do it alone! We need your support.

Way to go Morris Rugby Women! I almost feel sorry for the competition. We've got to be favored to win the whole thing. It's almost unfair really. And a special note to the Morristown Patch, all of Morristown is a buzz with what these hard tackling ladies are accomplishing. Facebook is going post crazy, the tweets are overloading the servers, #1 search result on Google. Make this your lead article, pronto!

As someone who likes to consider Morristown my second NJ home, I am proud to contribute to Morristown's greatness by supporting this team nationally!

I go to school in Virginia, but I live here in Jersey. Getting to play with these women and accomplishing what we have accomplished this summer is nothing short of AMAZING. I grew up playing rugby in Long Valley for flag, and then my mom started the U-19 girls team. The Lions are forever and always my team, no matter where I am. And now... we will be taking our greatness to Cali :)
