ReStore Grand ReOpening a Fun Family Festival!

Randolph, NJ:  On July 21, 2012 over 1,000 area residents joined the fun for the Grand Re-Opening of the Morris Habitat for Humanity ReStore!  The festivities celebrated the move to a larger, more shopper-friendly (air conditioned) space.  Music, food, fun and finding great bargains on gently used merchandise were the order of the day and Morris Habitat volunteers and staff  made the day go smoothly. According to Blair Bravo, Morris Habitat’s Executive Director, “The ReStore Team clearly demonstrated the WOW factor with their hard work and energy.  With each person touched, there will be at least one more new person that will be told of our store, the deals, the friendly and helpful staff and the great experience they will have when shopping or donating to the ReStore.”

The event included a magic show, a visit from Smoky the Bear, local fire trucks, face painting free hot dogs and popcorn, raffle drawings for ReStore gift certificates of $100 all day long and more. Those attending were able to pick a little yellow rubber duck from the ReStore “pond” for additional surprise savings on sale items. There were approximately 300 sales made in just that one day!  All donations and proceeds go to help Morris Habitat build the 74 affordable homes currently planned.

The new Morris Habitat location on 274 South Salem Street, Randolph, just off Route 10 across from the Kmart Shopping Center is now fully established.  Shoppers at the ReStore will easily spot volunteers ready to help them by their “uniforms” of new T-shirts. There is also a colorful new store directory to help shoppers locate the bargains!

The ReStore has expanded their hours, now open until 6:00 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. They will no longer stay open until 8:00 p.m. on Thursdays and will open later on Sundays at noon.  Cash, debit cards, Visa and MasterCard are accepted.

In addition to the low prices, special discounts are offered.  As a special thank you to current and former members of the armed forces, present a military ID on Fridays and get 10% off your purchases.  Friday is also Senior Discount Day when seniors age 55 and over can shop for treasures and get 10% off your purchases.

Delivery services are now available.  Morris Habitat’s partners at College Hunks Hauling Junk will deliver purchases for a fee. Those interested can sign up for this service at the checkout counter in the ReStore.

During regular store hours, donations of new or gently used building supplies, appliances, furniture, lighting, and more will be accepted at the Randolph location. Go to www.morrisrestore.org for a complete list of accepted items. Larger items can still be picked-up by the ReStore truck. To schedule a pickup of your donations, please contact the ReStore staff at 973.366.3358 or email restore.donations@morrishabitat.org .  All donations are tax-deductible.

Revenues from the ReStore have helped to build six homes to date and over 2,000 tons of recycled materials have been kept out of landfills.

There are so many ways to help! Volunteers are always needed to help as  “Ambassadors” to spread the word in your town, drivers to drive a box truck to pick up donations, movers to load and unload donations, price/appraisers to sort, appraise and price donations, QuickBooks experts to help with software needs, and repairer/refinishers to work on some of the donations.
