9/11: A Morristown Community Remembers

The best times are awaiting us.

That was the message from Centro Biblico de New Jersey Pastor David Silva, one of several presenters at the Morristown Community-Wide Remembrance Event, held at 7 p.m. on Sept. 11 at The Community Theatre.

"Today, we know we're still in the process of healing," he said to a nearly-packed theater. "Especially, for those who lost a loved one. The whole world changed on Sept. 11, 2001.

"There is hope," the pastor said. "We will decide what terrible things will do to us. We can continue to contribute to the world."

The Rev. Janet Broderick, of , spoke of what those trapped in the Twin Towers said to their loved ones by phone when they knew they would not be able to escape. Things like "I love you," "I adore you." "Perhaps we can learn to do that, even now," she said.

Following the two-hour event, audience members were invited to participate in the lighting of ceremonial candles around the reflecting pool outside of Vail Mansion.
