Country, Jazz, Prog Rock on Tap This Weekend

Many musical tastes will be satisfied.

What do you want to do this weekend? Take in a show? Are you more country, Jazz, 80s hits or, perhaps, 70s Prog Rock? You all have options.

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum
Where/When: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, 8 p.m. at the outdoor amphitheater at Pleasant Valley Park in Basking Ridge.
Why Go: Because you can see some of the best local theater around in a beautiful setting, as performed by what's become the well-known Trilogy Repertory Co. Bring lawn chairs and/or blankets.
Cost: Free, or donation.

Gazebo Concert with Full Circle
When/Where: Friday night at 7 p.m. at the gazebo at the Jefferson Township Municipal Building
Why Go: To hear fun dance music from the 80s to today
Cost: Free

Jazz in July
When/Where: Friday, 7:30 p.m. at the Morristown & Morris Township Library
Why Go: An evening of jazz amidst the books sounds beautiful to you.
Cost: $20

Wynonna & The Big Noise
When/Where: Friday, 8 p.m. at Mayo Performing Arts Center, Morristown
Why Go: You're feeling a little country.
Cost: $57 to $97

Saturday Morning Road Ride from Marty's
When/Where: Saturday, 8 a.m., from Marty's Reliable Cycle, Morristown
Why Go: It's summer and you want to test out those legs.
Cost: Free

Fire District 6 Car Wash Fundraiser
When/Where: Saturday, 8 a.m. at Parsippany-Troy Hills Fire Association, 60 Littleton Road, Parsippany
Why Go: Get your ride spankin' clean while helping the volunteers of District 6 continue their lifesaving work.
Cost: $5 per vehicle

Chatham Borough Farmers Market
When/Where: Saturday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Railroad Plz & Fairmount Ave, Chatham
Why Go: Pick up healthy Jersey Fresh produce and taste creations from Chef Jesse Kraft from Saint Barnabas Hospital, made with produce from the market.

Tai Chi Demonstration
When/Where: Saturday, 9 a.m., Railroad Plz & Fairmount Ave, Chatham
Why Go: Enjoy this free demonstration from a Tai Chi instructor and get some exercise in the open air.

All-Abilities Run from The Running Company
When/Where: Saturday, 9 a.m., from Morristown Running Company
Why Go: Cycling's not your thing, but running is!
Cost: Free

Morris Plains Farmers Market
When/Where: Every Saturday through October, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Merchant Block of Morris Plains
Why Go: For a variety of fresh foods from some of the top vendors in the area.
Cost: Bring your wallet

Plein Aire Painting
When/Where: Saturday, 9 a.m., Chatham New Jersey Transit Station, Fairmount Ave & Railroad Plz, Chatham
Why Go: Bring your easel and paints and enjoy a day of painting with your fellow local artists at Chatham's Reasoner Park
Cost: Free

Pet Therapy
When/Where: Saturday, 10 a.m. at Care One at Madison Avenue, Morristown
Why Go: You and your pet want to go and brighten a senior's day.
Cost: Free

2012 Gardens of Jefferson Tour
When/Where: Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., starting at the Jefferson Township Historical Museum
Why Go: To look at some beautiful gardens all over Jefferson Township
Cost: $12

Splash Party at Community Park Pool
When/Where: Saturday, 6:30 p.m. at the Morris Plains Community Park Pool, 51 Jim Fear Drive.
Why Go: For a night of swimming and entertainment to enjoy with family and friends.
Cost: $10 for adults, $5 for children, and an additional $3 for non pool members

When/Where: Sunday, 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Morristown
Why Go: You want to eat fresh.

Free SLP Youth Car Wash
When /Where: Sunday, 11:30 a.m. at Parsippany Presbyterian Church, 1675 Route 46, Parsippany
Why Go: Get your car cleaned gratis while helping teens learn about service and integrity.
