This is nothing more than a free advertisement for a local business.

He is one of the greatest tight ends of all time and I find it useful to know when cool things like this happen in town

Really Mark Bavarro? Do you think my $50 is better off in your pocket or helping the people who are homeless now because of Sandy? What a jerk.

Wow. Lots of bitterness, people. He was a Chatham resident. That makes it a little interesting to some. It is not as though they did this for every celebrity appearance at the store. I was interested that he was coming- he was a good neighbor. ANd if you do not know who he is, you are not a Giant fan, so you have no idea.

Mark Bavaro used to go to Mass at St. Patrick's everyday before practice, unshowered and scruffy. The nuns thought that he must be homeless, and would pray for him, looking the way he did.

How sad that the good old days when sports "heroes" would be happy to sign autographs for young fans - at NO charge - to encourage them in their love of the sport are gone forever; and that players who earn huge salaries (I don't know anything, of course, about this particular player's finances) feel they have to scrape even more by selling themselves to the fans.
