Frozen Yogurt (Part One): Taro Opens in Morristown

The first of three expected self-serve froyo joints ready to serve.

It might be cool outside, but with the weather the way it has been, you never know. We've had 60-plus degree days, and a snowstorm in October.

Whether the weather outside is frightful or like a furnace, Taro Frozen Yogurt is ready to serve its chilly treats.

Yan Lin, whose family owns the restaurants in Morristown and Flemington, opened the self-serve frozen yogurt business at 41 South St. on Nov. 27–amidst what is likely to be some pretty stiff competition in coming months, as two other frozen yogurt places, Cups and , are poised to join them on South Street.

For those unfamiliar with this growing dessert trend, customers serve themselves from a selection of fruits, nuts and various sweets, the fat-free frozen yogurt or sorbet of their choice and pay 39 cents an ounce.

Morristown is quickly becoming a dessert destination: Already, people can satisfy sweet tooths at , , , , and . is currently under construction. And, not one, but two other self-serve frozen yogurt businesses are poised to join the fray.

Lin said an official "Grand Opening" event was in the works at Taro.
