Why be inside this weekend?

We continue the theme set last week with a slate of outdoor activities you and your family (and, your stomach in the case of the farmers markets) will surely enjoy. It is summer, after all.

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum
Where/When: Thursday, Friday and Saturday; and also 19, 20 and 21, 8 p.m., at the outdoor amphitheater at Pleasant Valley Park in Basking Ridge.
Why Go: Because you can see some of the best local theater around in a beautiful setting.
Cost: Free, or donation. 

St. Margaret of Scotland Summer Carnival
When/Where: Friday, 6 p.m. (and all weekend) at St. Margaret of Scotland, Morristown
Why Go: You're looking for some family fun in the great outdoors.
Cost: $1

Chatham Borough Farmers Market
When/Where: Saturday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Chatham New Jersey Transit Station, Fairmount Ave & Railroad Plz, Chatham
Why Go: Pick up your groceries, sweets and snacks from some of the Garden State's freshest suppliers.
Cost: Bring your wallet

Organic Farm Produce Sales
When/Where: Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Urban Farm at Lafayette, Morristown
Why Go: You want to eat fresh and can't make the Morristown's Farmers Market on Sunday.
Cost: Bring your wallet

Plein Aire Painting
When/Where: Saturday, 9 a.m., Chatham New Jersey Transit Station, Fairmount Ave & Railroad Plz, Chatham, NJ
Why Go: Bring your easel and paints and enjoy a day of painting with your fellow local artists at Chatham's Reasoner Park.
Cost: Free

Antique Gardens & Landscapes
When/Where: Saturday, 10 a.m. from the Morris Tourism Bureau, Morristown
Why Go: You love learning a little about Morristown's rich history.
Cost: $12

Pet Therapy
When/Where: Saturday, 10 a.m. at Care One at Madison Avenue, Morristown
Why Go: You and your pet want to go and brighten a senior's day.
Cost: Free

Jefferson Day
When/Where: Saturday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the Jefferson Township High School football field
Why Go: Because you want to see a parade, shop at a variety of vendors, play some games, hear some great music and see an awesome display of fireworks.
Cost: Free for activities during the day, $2/adult and $1/child after 5:30 p.m. for band and fireworks.

20th Annual George Gramby Day
When/Where: Saturday, noon to 7 p.m. at Abbett Avenue Playground, Morristown
Why Go: You want to enjoy a family day event celebrating George Gramby.
Cost: Free

Morristown Farmers Market
When/Where: Sunday, 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Morristown
Why Go: You want to eat fresh.
Cost: Bring your wallet

Outdoor Worship on the Green
When/Where: Sunday, 10 a.m. on the Morristown Green
Why Go: You want to enjoy a church service al fresco.
Cost: Free
