On Sunday, April 29 there will be a 5K run and walk at the Honeywell Campus to benefit Got 2B Safe, an abduction prevention program for elementary school students that teaches kids how to stay safe.

Got 2B Safe is a partnership of Honeywell Hometown Solutions and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. 

Christina Sanclimenti, a race organizer and Honeywell employee, said this is the first 5K ever held at the corporate headquarters in Morris Township to benefit the program.

"We are looking forward to bringing our neighbors and the local community together for a fun-filled day," Sanclimenti said in an e-mail.

The race is US Track & Field Certified with rolling hills and water stops along the course. The whole race will be on the Honeywell Corporate Campus. The program's Web site posted a full map of the course. 

Sanclimenti said Got 2B Safe has already raised more than $15,000 for the event, and organizers will continue to raise money until race day. More than 240 people have already registered, and participants have the chance to register or donate until the day of the event.

Tickets for the race are $25. Registration will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Sunday morning, and the race will start at 9 a.m. Awards will be announced at 10 a.m. for the first, second, and third overall male and female finishers, the first place team, the first place Honeywell employee, and the first place for different age categories.

According to the Got 2B Safe Web site, more than 2,000 children in the U.S. are reported missing everyday, and thousands are involved in dangerous situations. All proceeds will help benefit this program that works to keep communities safer.
