Looking for a little swing to go with your literary?
Head over to The Morristown and Morris Township Library on July 20 and 27, as its "Jazz in July" concert series returns with Jazz standards, a little Dixie and a little swing from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.
The first evening will feature a Dixieland/Swing concert. Featured performers include Joe Licari, clarinet; Ed Polcer, cornet; Tom Artin, trombone; Dick Voigt, piano; Brian Nalepka, bass; and David Humm, drums. The second evening will be "Jazz Standards from the American Songbook." Featured performers include Bob Mchugh, piano; Ron Naspo, bass; David Humm, drums; and guest Tony Signa, saxophone and flute.
"This is a very popular program that has been widely attended in the past," said Chad Leinaweaver, assistant director for the library. "David Humm always culls together some wonderful musicians each year for our annual Jazz in July event. Also, we have the program at 7:30 p.m. on a Friday, after the library has closed, so people love the intimate atmosphere and get to see almost a behind-the-scenes approach to the library. It makes for a nice event."

Ed Polcer and Joe Licari are great players. In fact, Ed is interviewed in my book, "Jazz Notes: Interviews Across the Generations" (Praeger/ABC-Clio), which is available in the Morristown Library and will be on display Friday night.
