MedReturn is a stand-alone unit into which expired or unused prescription drugs can be dropped. The units are firmly fastened to a secure surface in the police station, where they are monitored 24/7 and are checked regularly, with the items collected and then properly destroyed.

Morris County currently has 16 MedReturn drug collection units.

“The efforts of the Community Coalition for a Safe and Healthy Morris is an outstanding example of a community coalition taking meaningful action in the fight against prescription drug abuse,” said Angelo M. Valente, executive director of the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey and American Medicine Chest Challenge.

“Their commitment to provide residents with safe and legal disposal options for unused, unwanted, and expired medicine will surely help stem the tide of this deadly epidemic.”
