Much Music, Animal Adoptions This Weekend

Helping our furry friends, helping our ears.

 

This weekend is all about music, music, music. And, if you say "yes" to adopting some of our furry friends, well, that will be music to their furry ears.

4-H Big Rummage Sale
When/Where: Friday and Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Rutgers Cooperative Extension on Milltown Road in Bridgewater
Why Go: Because who doesn't want the chance to try to purchase so many donated items, including clothes, DVDs, antiques and so much more!
Cost: Bring your wallet

Art League of Chathams Fall Art Show Reception
When/Where: Friday, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Chatham Township Municipal Building, 58 Meyersville Road, Chatham
Why Go: Enjoy original artwork in various mediums by members of the league, and refreshments, too!
Cost: Free

Organic Farm Produce Sales
When/Where: Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Urban Farm at Lafayette, Morristown
Why Go: You want to eat fresh and can't make the Morristown's Farmers Market on Sunday.
Cost: Bring your wallet

Kitten and Cat Adoption Day
When/Where: Saturday starting at 11 a.m. at Agway, Morris Plains
Why Go: You're looking for a "furrever" friend.
Cost: Free

Dog Adoption Event
When/Where: Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Raritan Petco (where the pets go) on Route 202
Why Go: Because People for Animals is having a dog adoption event, and you may just find your new best friends here.
Cost: Free

EPICS #1 Release Party, Signing
When/Where: Saturday, 1 p.m., Dewey's Comic City, Madison
Why Go: Enjoy an exclusive release party and signing event to celebrate the debut of EPICS #1, an independently-published anthology comic book. All four creators will all be on hand to sign copies of EPICS and to do sketches.
Cost: Free to attend

Harvest Tea
When/Where: Saturday, 2:30 p.m. at Acorn Hall, Morristown
Why Go: You want to see how the careful art of "afternoon tea" was perfected in the Victorian Era.

Tom Paxton Performs at Sanctuary Concerts
When/Where: Saturday, 8 p.m., The Sanctuary Concerts, Chatham
Why Go: To see American legend Tom Paxton in an intimate concert venue

Wedding of the Century: 19th Century Wedding Fashions
When/Where: Sunday, 1 p.m. at Historic Speedwell Village, Morristown
Why Go: You want to see how wedding fashions evolved over the span of a century.

Ni-Hao Frelinghuysen
When/Where: Sunday, 2 p.m. at Frelinghuysen Arboretum, Morris Township
Why Go: You want to explore the arboretum with an all-Mandarin language tour guide.
Cost: Free, but registration required

Jefferson Community Players Open Casting

Because you love acting and you want to make new friends

Macy's 7th Annual Spelling Bee
When/Where: Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Bridgewater Commons Mall in Bridgewater
Why Go: Because who doesn't want to prove they can spell? In honor of Reading Is Fundamental weeks from Aug. 25 to Sept. 22, Macy's is holding its spelling bee, and 27 regional winners will head home with some great prizes, including iPads, gift cards and more.

Poets in the Garden
When/Where: Sunday, 4 p.m. at Macculloch Hall Historical Museum, Morristown
Why Go: You want to see and hear writer James Richardson recite his work in the fantastic Macculloch Hall gardens.

The Morris Music Men in Concert
When/Where: Sunday, 4 p.m., Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Chatham
Why Go: You want to enjoy some delightful music and help raise money for the Gloria Dei Music Scholars Fund, plus have wine and cheese after the show.
