Police: Progress Being Made, Schools Open Thursday

Time to get back to work, kids.

If Morris School District students thought they might get to sleep in yet another day, think again.

The Morristown Police Department issued a notice via the Nixle.com alert service Wednesday afternoon letting people know, among other things, that the Morris School District would finally reopen on Thursday at its normal time. School has been closed all week, as a result of damage and power outages from the region's late-October snowstorm over last weekend.

In addition, the alert stated JCP&L was making progress with power restoration in the region, and that Morristown's warming station, at the Senior Center in Town Hall, would remain open until 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Are they using "snow" days this week? They just might run out of snow time for school closures at this rate.....hope we have a warm and/or dry winter. One can only hope, right?!

More than half of Burnham park neighborhood is still without power, Hillcrest School included. Wonder if JCP&L will get Hillcrest up in time for school tomorrow! Would be nice if they did, then maybe I would get power as well!!!

Just thought of having to come home to Burnham Park (from Philly) to send my kids to school tomorrow makes my stomach churn, my head ache and my blood boil!

I wish someone would report on WHY there hasn't been any JCP&L trucks in Burnham Park, except for about 10 min 2 days ago...came and left.....They say they are working 24 hrs a day...I have been all around town and haven't seen any trucks anywhere except 6 parked in front of the A&P the other day looking like they were on break

It amazes me that there are still apologists for JCP&L on this site. It's one thing if one person says he or she didn't see any trucks. But everyone I talk to hasn't seen any trucks around Morris Township.

I know this was a sudden and unexpected storm however JCP&L management did not help by not being totally prepeared there are things you can control, Tree trimming for example, having solid patch to grids, and then you deal with the unexpected. Maybe JCP&L need less managers from Ohio maybe they should heir some of our unemployed military officers they at least are trained to be prepared and to deal with the unexpected and not be over whelmed by it
