Pregnant Woman Maced, Hit in Head With Bat, Cops Say

Morristown resident charged with aggravated assault in Tuesday night incident.

A Morristown woman was arrested after police say she sprayed a pregnant woman with mace and repeatedly hit her with a softball bat.

Jacqueline Rivera, 24, of Fredericks Street, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon with purpose to use it unlawfully against another person and unlawful possession of a weapon at 7 p.m. Tuesday night.

Officer Jermaine Marbley responded to a report of three to four women assaulting one woman with a baseball bat, according to the police report. When Marbley arrived, Morristown EMS staff was already treating the woman, who was bleeding profusely from her head, according to the report.

A witness at the scene told the officer the victim had received a phone call from an unknown woman, who stated she was coming over to beat her up, according to the report.

Another witness then said a group of women arrived and one of them, later identified as Rivera, sprayed mace into the victim's eyes and proceeded to assault her with the softball bat, the report said. Several people on the scene yelled at Rivera to stop assaulting the victim as she was several months pregnant, according to the report.

Rivera then dropped the bat and fled south on Speedwell Avenue with several others, according to the report.

Later, while being treated at Morristown Medical Center, the victim repeated what witnesses had told police earlier, noting she had seen Rivera and the others around town but did not know their names, according to the report.

Rivera was arrested and charged later that evening. She was transported to the Morris County Correctional Facility on $5,000 bail, which was posted on Wednesday.

Cabron, the specific location of the incident was redacted by police, but it does state the women had fled south on Speedwell Avenue. I have added that to the story.

What "other side" could possibly justify macing someone and then hitting them in the head with a bat? Unless of course you're a punk-ass thug. Then you don't need a reason.

So its alright to beat a pregnant lady with a baseball bat.. that is if the other side of the story sounds better?

this was not a random act of violence. The victim knew the attacker. The attacker had friends help. You could call it a big "love Triangle"

My thoughts exactly. Victim pregnant with Ms Rivera's boyfriend's child perhaps?

say what you would like to say. but when a knife is pulled out on you and a bat how would you react? and the girl only found out she was pregnant after she went to the hospital. so keep believing what the papers say. theres always 2 sides to a story.
