Readers' Choice: Where is the Best Daycare Center?

Vote in the poll, leave your comments, have your say!

What's the most important thing to a parent (besides five minutes of quiet to collect your thoughts)?

The health and safety of their child, of course. That's why we want to know who you think has the best day care center in the area.

We understand that some of you may go to places outside Morristown, Morris Township and Morris Plains on the way to work or that some of you are stay at home parents or have relatives that pitch in. Everybody finds a system that works for them. But many of you avail yourselves upon our local businesses with our most precious commodity: our children.

This week's Readers' Choice (formerly known as "Best Of") has combined the offerings in Morristown, Morris Township and Morris Plains, and this article will be posted on both Patch sites throughout the week.

Here's a list of day care centers we're asking readers to vote on:

(If we're leaving one off the list, please let us know in the comments section.)

Because this poll is not scientific, it is not the sole consideration in choosing a winner. The winner will be determined by Patch, based on poll results and reviews on Patch Places. Please vote only once per survey, per Patch.

Voting in the poll below is open until 9 a.m. Friday. Ties will be broken by whichever business has the most positive comments and reviews. We will announce the winner at noon Friday.

Note: This poll originally included Morris Plains Co-Op Playschool in Morris Plains, but that location has been removed from the poll, as it's not meant to include facilities that are primarily preschools. We apologize for any confusion.

Please don't forget to include Temple Bnai Or Pre-School. It is an excellent program!

Rachelle, thanks for your input. This poll is focused exclusively on Daycare Centers, not Preschools, which likely will be a future topic.

I would suggest adding the Richard Blake Center at the Greater Morristown YMCA to your list as well. The Blake Center provides fantastic childcare to many Morristown families, some who need assistance. If you are a local parent with little ones who doesn't know about daycare at The Y, please call 973.984.2255 to learn more.

Marc, as the Greater Morristown YMCA is not located in Morristown, Morris Twp or Morris Plains, it wasn't included on this list.

Rainbow academy in Whippany - it's just as close to Morris Plains as some of the others you listed (if not closer).... We have been going for 5 years and love it there! My 3 boys have learned so much and love their teachers!

Rainbow Academy in Whippany was a terrible daycare center. We were unfortunate to enroll our two young children there in 2007. The infant room teachers were inept and cruel to some children. It was a horrific experience. I can only hope for the sake of the children that all of the teachers have been replaced.

There is no school like the Morris Plains Co-Op Playschool! The little red schoolhouse in a quiet neighborhood is just perfect. The director is available and involved, the teachers are loving & attentive and the parents are involved. It's such a wonderful addition to our community. We have met many wonderful parents and children by enrolling here. The parental enrichment discussions that occur outside of school hours are a huge benefit, too. What an amazing school- we love it!

Richard Blake Children's Center - our children couldn't be happier there. We couldn't love the teachers and staff more. They are loving, attentive, and dedicated professionals. Most of the teachers have been there for years (like, 15+) which speaks volumes for the organization. We visited many childcare centers in the area before finding the Blake Center - we knew right away that it was the best in Morristown. As an aside, it has a fantastic gym and outdoor area for the kids - a bonus!

What is the cost for the Y's full day daycare?

Richard Blake Children's Center is part of the Morristown Area YMCA. It's located in Cedar Knolls but it serves Morris Plains, Morris Township, Morristown plus many other areas. I have heard great things about Joyful Noise but their pick up time of 5:30 is too early and they are closed whenever Morris Plains school district is closed which is inconvenient. The Blake Center has better hours and is practically open all the time which is convenient for the working parent. We have our youngest enrolled there. She is very happy and swims once a week next door at the Y. Our oldest is at Mountain Way.

We have been going to My Special Spot for 10 years and couldn't be happier with the care and education our 2 boys have received there. My oldest graduated in 2007 and was more prepared for Kindergarten than I ever would've thought and my youngest is graduating this year. The things he had learned we marvel at everyday. They have fabulous enrichment programs (computers, Spanish, yoga, Travelin Tumblers , Big Jeff , DJ Jam Cats) to name a few of my son's favorites. These are at no extra cost. From the time they went there at a few months old through the Pre-School program you couldn't ask for better teachers! Highly recommended.
