UPDATE: Shake It! Burgers and Dogs is Out of Business

The burger-centric restaurant in the location of the former Cha Cha Cha Cuban Bistro was open less than a year.

After a little less than a year, Cha Cha Cha's burger-centric replacement has closed its doors.

Paper has gone up on the door and windows and a sign has announced that, as of Jan. 11, Shake It! Burgers and Dogs has ceased operations.

"We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you and, again, we thank you for your business," the brief note to customers reads. No reason was provided for the closure.

Shake It! Burgers and Dogs opened on Washington Street just last February, on the heels of Don's Burgers, Fries and Fountain's January 2012 opening. It replaced the former Cha Cha Cha Cuban Bistro. Those owners--also owners of Sushi Lounge across the street--cited at the time that Cha Cha Cha was in need of a larger space.

Owner Ray Luetters, who took over the business in June 2012, cited health reasons for the closure.

He added, "the new proprietor will apparently will be opening soon."

Correction: A previous version of this article incorrectly indicated new ownership began in December 2012.

Their burgers were greasy and tasteless - not a surprise.

When they first opened up, their burgers were AMAZING, however, I went there back in early December, and their burgers were just not as good. Since then I have tried Don's and they are MUCH better.

But, I would have to think that the location isn't working out as a restaurant. Maybe rent is too high for this non-prime location? Idk, but this is now the 3rd business there in a year that has failed.

Now, if it were a bar or a bank at that location, they'd do fine.

I'm always surprised when people say Don's has amazing burgers. Last I checked they used frozen, pre-made patties.

When they first opened I loved the place. I haven't been there in the last couple months though so I don't know if the food changed, but I am still sad to see them close. I always picked them over the other burger joints in town.

They were much better than the other guys on South Street - tasty and the rolls weren't soaked through with grease by the time I sat down to eat my take out. I will miss them.

The shake I had once was lousy. Not a good sign for the place with shake in its name.

They had an awesome shrimp burger. I actually liked this place and never had a bad experience. I'm sure a tiny pizza place will replace it in no time.

Doesn't anyone realize the health implications of eating all this junky food? Why can't we find a vegan and vegetarian restaurant in this town? or better yet, an ORGANIC restaurant. There are plenty of them in places alot less savvy than Morristown. I don't get it. Didn't anyone watch Food, inc or Forks vs Knives?
