Simon Gallery's Got The 'Fever'
"Fever," a new art exhibit featuring the work of Serena Bocchino, shows through June 30 at Simon Gallery in Morristown.
The wine-and-refreshments reception on Saturday was open to the public. Bocchino was on hand to greet guests who came to view her jazz-inspired work in visions of vibrant red, gold, and graphite grey, with some other accents, on the primarily enamel and graphite canvases.
Bocchino's works has been displayed locally, and throughout venues in New York, New Jersey, San Francisco and as far away as Rome.
"Bocchino has developed a signature style based on her individual method of pouring paint and lyrical color sense," according to the booklet handed out at the reception.
"Jumpy and hot, these new paintings and drawings have both raw energy and cool intellect," Donna Gustafson, Andrew W. Mellon Liaison for Academic Programs and curator at Zimmerli Art Museum, Rutgers University, was quoted in the review in the booklet.
