Superhero Run Could Cause Traffic Sun.
Police advise motorists to plan alternate routes
The third annual Superhero Half Marathon will be Sunday at the Ginty Field Complex, so police are warning motorists to watch out for detours and delays.
The 6.5-mile course will cause traffic detours on Woodland Avenue, Spring Valley Road, South Street, and Southgate Parkway in Morris Township, and on Loantaka Way and Spring Valley Road in Harding and Chatham Township.
Road closures will begin at approximately 8:20 am and last for approximately 3 hours.
Morris Township Police said all effort will be made to maintain a continuous one-way flow of traffic around course, but drivers should try to avoid the area and plan alternate routes.
Police are anticipating more than 2,000 runners at the event.
During the run, several participants dress up in Super Hero gear. Heather Gardiner, manager of Morristown Running Company, and her partner Chris Russo, both avid runners, founded the race three years ago.
