Tart & Tufo Has Closed its Doors
Before self-serve froyo invaded Morristown, this South Street business had cornered the market.
It was only a matter of time.
Before Greenberry's, Morristown Dairy and Zebu Forno packed it in—and before a trio of self-serve frozen yogurt shops decided South Street in Morristown would be where they would stake their claim in the emerging trend—Tart & Tufo listed its South Street (non self-serve) frozen yogurt shop on Garden State Multiple Listing Service for $150,000.
That was in August 2011. Since then, the aforementioned businesses closed and the triple threat of competitors joined the fray. Now, the original server of froyo in Morristown has apparently, finally decided enough was enough.
On Monday, the lights were out and signs were up at Tart & Tufo's store letting customers know they were now closed. No additional explanation was given.
While we do not want to be pessimists, one has to wonder what business might be next?

Not surprised. Still sad about Greenberry's & Zebu Forno. They were really committed to the community.

It is amazing 130.5 Speedwell Ave (Metro Shop) is still open. Everyone around town is talking about what goes on in there and nobody is doing anything about it. Shame on the Morristown Municipality for not protecting the community.

Four frozen yogurt shops within two blocks was clearly more than the town could support. It's a matter of too much competition for one small sliver of the food market.

It's too bad. They offered a better product than the other three, just not as many flavors. I thought since they also offered salads and other items, they wouldn't be hurt as much by the other entrants. As far as the others go, they are selling the exact same product so I can't see them all lasting long. Strawberry Fields probably has the best chance since they are right next to the Community Theatre.

As great as it is to see the influx of new businesses and establishments in town, I think the number of frozen yogurt places we now have is a bit (read: completely) overkill, no? I get the hype of self serve frozen yogurt, but Tart and Tufo was certainly a favorite of mine. They made the best smoothies in town and had a really cute atmosphere to hang out and catch up with a friend over coffee, panini, salad, etc. (as opposed to Cups where you can barely hear yourself think over the blaring music). It's sad to see that they are closed. I spent many Saturday and Sunday mornings there! Ugh...on to the next one.

was this the yogurt place where the girls working there dressed inappropriately? If so good that they closed. I was too embarrased to bring my children in there. Reap what you sow Murphy!

No, that is most likely Cups. It's basically a "Club for Kids"...guess it fits right in with the Sona and Iron Bar theme! Tart and Tufo was really great. Definitely going to miss it.

Well that stinks. Thanks for the warning Tart & Tufo. I had bought a groupon for this place that I hadn't fully used up yet. Guess I won't be seeing that money again.

Not true! Contact Groupon and they will give you a credit for your purchase. My boyfriend and I had to do that for a sushi place that suddenly closed, and we got our money back.

what will replace businesses in Morristown, you ask? Why, more banks, of course!

I totally agree with Cynthia. Tart & Tufo had the best quality of all four. I am SO sad that they had to close. Not all frozen yogurts are equally healthy. Which one of the remaining three are the closest to the quality of Tart and Tufo?

Susan, none of them are as good as Tart & Tufo. The closest I've found is Red Mango in Florham Park. Their quality is better, and more tart, than the rest.

Hey guys i was talking to the owner of strawberry fields and he brought up the fact that compared to all the other shops in morristown the carry a healthier yogurt, they carry three to four flavors that the famous bloomingdales carrys like coffee peanut butter plain and of course the strawberry flavor. One upside to the place in the nice clean inviting enviroment everything from the nice employees, the and of the course the music; who doesnt like the beatles. There is also a rumor that there going to start carrying coffee and hot apple cider for the colder months.

I really liked Tart&tufo, their crepes & delicious hot chocolate during winter! Now we are left with 3 frozen yogurt places offering the exact same thing ...
