The Nabe Reaches $50K Fundraising Goal
Recent $10,000 donation brought service organization over the top, executive director said.
Now is the time to celebrate.
That was the statement from Morristown Neighborhood House Executive Director David Walker, upon announcing the 114-year-old Morristown organization had reached its summer camp appeal goal of $50,000.
The Nabe provides educational and recreational programs daily to about 1,500 people across Morris County. It had been halfway toward closing a $20,000 fundraising shortfall last month but was able to raise $10,000 in just one week. A quick turnaround was needed to ensure they did not have to charge more for participation.
It was another $10,000, made by a donor Walker said he was unable to publicly acknowledge, that brought the organization to its goal.
Walker said during the appeal that the fast response could be credited to word of mouth and exposure from local media.
"People support what we're doing," he said. "By providing a fun, positive experience for kids during the day when school is not in session, we're enabling parents to work and support their families, so people support that."
