Video: Exhibit Celebrates 'Original Thomas Nast'
Macculloch Hall exhibit features rarely-seen works from one-time Morristown resident.
He gave us the Democrat Donkey and the GOP Elephant. He popularized Uncle Sam and Columbia, the spirit of America. His acerbic cartoons were responsible for taking down Boss Tweed and the Tammany Hall crooks who controlled New York City for decades. He was an ardant supporter of Abe Lincoln and a close personal friend of Ulysses S. Grant. And Morristown resident (1872-1902) Thomas Nast even gave us our most enduring holiday image, Santa Claus.
