Video: Toyota's 100-Car Giveaway Gets Going in Morristown

Community Soup Kitchen and Outreach Center got the first of 100 cars through automaker contest on Monday.

She's a believer now.

That was the sentiment of of Terry Connolly, executive director of the , of Morristown, which was one of 100 non-profit organizations nationwide to win a new vehicle from Toyota, as part of its "" contest held earlier this year. The contest, through Facebook, asked that a video be presented by interested non-profits explaining why they are deserving of a new vehicle. Once selected, these non-profits had one day windows to accumulate enough votes through the social media service in order to win.

Connolly said she was skeptical at first. But, as the video–created by Morristown teens Kate and Anna Hess, and John Nichols–made its way through the vetting process, skepticism turned into hope. Once it was selected as a winner, hope turned into excitement.

On Monday, Aug. 15, that excitement was culminated as representatives of the Community Soup Kitchen, of Toyota of Morristown, in Morris Township, and of Toyota–including North American President and COO for Toyota, Yoshimi Inaba–unveiled the first official vehicle of the contest, a brand-new Toyota Sienna minivan, which will be used by the soup kitchen to deliver meals, take people to medical appointments and pick up more donations, among other uses.

Toyota of Morristown co-owners Jon Brauer and Anthony Ferrara did the unveiling, as media, guests and other members of the public looked on.
