Join Patch on Tuesday for a presidential debate viewing party at Tiff's Restaurant in Pine Brook (73 Route 46). You will have the chance to share your views on how the candidates' remarks addressed the issues you care about.
A limited number of spaces will be made available to the general public for this free event. RSVP by using the form on this page to hold a spot. We're seeking Democrats and Republicans, undecided voters, small business owners, civic-minded citizens and those interested in the political process.
The event begins at 8 p.m. as Barack Obama and Mitt Romney are scheduled to debate at 9 p.m., and afterward Patch editors will talk with groups of attendees regarding their impression of the debate.
If you are unable to attend but want to join in a discussion during the debate, we will be live blogging through the platform Cover It Live and you are welcome to join in. The live blogging platform will be available beginning at 8 p.m. Tuesdayx.

Mitt Romney leads a party packed with paranoids and fabulists
There is abundant evidence that at least half of those who call themselves Republicans believe things that are either far out of the American mainstream or are patently false (Obama is a Muslim, Obama was born in Kenya, Obama is conspiring to confiscate everyone’s guns, etc.). The question is whether Romney will resist the loonies in his party should he become president, or whether he will go along with the crazier impulses of the right-wingers in Congress.
The answer to that depends on what Romney really believes and, given that he has been on all sides of most issues in his political career, it is nearly impossible to know what that may be.

Excerpt from transcript: State Dept: ok, we lied about it being about the video, now we lied about saying we didn't say it was the video. Dan, If you believe that I have some ocean property in Iowa I would like to give you. Its a know fact that most of the Military will vote for Romney, thats why Obummer is trying to stop the military absenty ballots from being counted, because he is scared. On July 26th of this year my same-sex partner of 10 years and I finalized the adoption of three siblings who were separated out of the Washington DC foster care system. The same day we were married. My question is simple. Do you consider us a family? If so what will you do as president to ensure we are protected and have equal rights as all committed families? The Government Accountability Office cites 1,138 rights, benefits, and protections offered to families with heterosexual parents that we do not receive.
