If you're in the mood for music, if you've got a hankering for history or if you sure can shop, there's a lot going on this weekend.

There's family fun, concerts and shows decidedly aimed at the adults, and plenty of chances to help the local community. Read on:

Illuminating Poetry
Where/When:
 From 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the Madison Public Library.
Why Go:
Because you can bring a favorite poem with you, create a design and cut it on a printing block.
Price:
$5.

Spanish Language Storytime
Where/When:
 From 10:30 to 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Madison Public Library.
Why Go: 
Because simple stories, songs and finger plays for kids ages 6 and up will be the focus of the program.
Pricing:
 Free.

The Mothers’ Club
Where/When:
 From 10:30 a.m. to noon on Thursday at Postpartum Place in Chatham.
Why Go:
Mothers and their babies can come to this fun, social time and receive expert advice in a safe and supportive environment. 
Pricing:
 Free.

'Free To Be You and Me' Musical
When/Where:
At 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at the Bishop Janes United Methodist Church in Basking Ridge.
Why Go:
To hear local youth talent perform a light-hearted musical with a good, solid message. The lively '70s tunes will have the whole family smiling.
Pricing:
$12 for adults. $10 for students and seniors.

'A Midsummer Night's Dream'
When/Where:
At 8 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at the Bernards Township Pleasant Valley Park in Basking Ridge.
Why Go:
To discover the difficulties and magic of love in Shakespeare's most beloved comedy performed under the stars.
Pricing:
Free.

Early American Silversmiths Exhibition
Where/When:
 From 1 to 4 p.m. on Thursday and Sunday at Macculloch Hall Historical Museum in Morristown.
Why Go:
Because the exhibit focuses on the three centers of American silver-making in the 18th century—featuring Boston, New York and Philadelphia silversmiths and exploring the master/apprentice relationships.
Price: Admission is $6 for adults; $5 for seniors and students; and free for those 12 and under.

Downtown Concert Series
Where/When:
 At 6 p.m. Friday at the Museum of Early Trades & Crafts in Madison.
Why Go:
Because you can bring a blanket or chair and enjoy a free family-friendly outdoor music concert on the lawn of the Museum.
Price:
Free.

Historic House Museum at Fosterfields
Where/When:
 On Friday at Fosterfields Living Historical Farm in Morris Township.
Why Go:
Because you can tour The Willows, a Gothic Revival-style house museum at Fosterfields Living Historical Farm in Morris Township that was originally built in 1854 for a grandson of Paul Revere.
Price:
$6 for adults, $5 for seniors, $4 for children 6 to 14, $2 for children 2 to 3.

Parachute Play
Where/When:
 From 10:30 to 11 a.m. on Friday at the Madison Public Library.
Why Go: 
Because kids can have fun on Friday moving, playing and singing around a giant rainbow colored parachute.
Pricing:
 Free. 

Summer Drawing Studio
Where/When:
 From 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Morristown.
Why Go:
It’s an open drawing opportunity that includes models, still-lifes, architecture, abstract and more.
Pricing:
 Free.

Parsippany FD Golf Outing
Where/When:
 At 7 a.m. on Friday at the Knoll Golf Club West in Parsippany.
Why Go:
It’s a day of golf and helps the fire department. What else do you need to hear?
Price:
$115.

Father's Group
Where/When:
 From 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Postpartum Place in Chatham.
Why Go:
Because you’re a new dad and you have some important questions.
Price:
Free.

All-Abilities Run
Where/When: 
9 a.m. on Saturday at the Morristown Running Company.
Why Go: To start off your Saturday with a 5-mile group run and finish it off with a free bagel.
Pricing: Free.

Morris Plains Farmers Market
Where/When:
 From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at The Merchant Block of Morris Plains.
Why Go:
 You can pick up some homemade mozzarella and ravioli, freshly baked bread and some of New Jersey's best cheesecakes.
Pricing:
 Bring your wallet.

Morristown in Three Centuries
Where/When:
 From 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Morris County Visitors Center in Morristown.
Why Go:
 Because this historic walking tour covers nearly a mile within Morristown’s historic district covering more than 300 years of Morristown history.
Price:
$10.

The Fuzzy Lemons Play the Bickford
Where/When:
 At 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Bickford Theatre in Morris Township.
Why Go:
Because you get a chance to listen to some great music and all proceeds will benefit educational programs at Historic Speedwell.
Pricing:
 $8.

Chatham Borough Farmers Market 
Where/When:
 From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at Railroad Plaza and Fairmont Avenue in Chatham.
Why Go:
 To get some of the best Jersey Fresh produce, Jersey Shore seafood, pasture-raised meat, poultry and eggs, honey, baked goods, fresh mozzarella, specialty prepared foods of all kinds, and more. The market will also have cooking demonstrations.

 Bring your wallet.

Know Your Numbers: Healthy Lifestyle Challenge
Where/When:
 From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Chatham New Jersey Transit Station.
Why Go:
Because it’s a great way to start keeping track of what you eat and the amount of physical activity you participate in each week.
Pricing:
 Free.

'Girl's Night Out at the Mall'
When/Where:
From 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday at the Bridgewater Commons in Bridgewater.
Why Go:
Because it an evening of makeovers, manicures, discount shopping and more, all benefiting Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity. Now, that's a good reason to go shopping.
Pricing:
$5 donation.

Morristown Farmers Market
When/Where: From 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday in the parking lot behind Dunkin Donuts on Morris Street.
Why Go: Nothing beats fresh.
Pricing: Bring your wallet.

Adriane Post and Friends Play Macculloch Hall
Where/When:
 At 4 p.m. on Sunday at Macculloch Hall Historical Museum in Morristown.
Why Go:
Because Adriane Post, the great-granddaughter of Dorothea Miller Post, who lived at Macculloch Hall, will perform.
Price:
Adults $6; Senior & Students $5; Members and children under 12 are free.
