What Should Occupy Former Gas Station Site?

It's an entry point into Morristown that's severely underutilized at the moment.

It's a heckuva way to be welcomed into Morristown.

Not that a gas station is a town's crown jewel, but an operational one is certainly a better entry point than one that has been shut down for at least a few years. Judging from the decal in the window indicating anyone born after 1989 would get checked for cigarettes, we are guessing this place shut down somewhere around 2007-2008. If that's the case, people have had some time to think about what should "Occupy This Space."

On the corner of Macculloch Avenue and Market Street, this corner lot does welcome people into one section of town, so that should be taken into account. It also has some pretty long-tenured neighbors, with Wells Rug Service and Orchard's Auto Glass right across the street. Additionally, a new townhouse development is getting built a stone's throw from this site. It's ripe for possibility.

So, what do you think should "Occupy This Space?" Chime in below.

Being that I live a couple blocks down the street I would love to see something like a Quick Check, Wawa or Sheetz. It would be cool if they have gas too if they could squeeze it in. That corner does get tons of traffic so I'm sure it would do well

You are correct, I am from PA where we have plenty of Wawas and Sheetz's =)

Yes Mud Lady, they actually opened the first Wawa I know around here in Parsippany within the last year. It's on/near New Road.

Interesting, Wawas give me flashbacks to my halcyon days down the shore when I was younger.

Liquor store, Dry Cleaner or convenient store with a small deli. I'm biased, I'm a neighbor who would benefit.

Nothing says Welcome to Morristown quite like a used car dealership. That's my vote.

traffic & position of area is too small to support a business, unless it's strictly a walk in place...a farmer's market kind of stand would be something beneficial to the community...

The parking would be an issue but I have always wanted to open a small plant store/garden store. Morristown needs a store to cater to all the patio/terrace/deck gardens for the apartments/condos/townhomes..any investors out there? give me a shout

A quaint family owned deli/bakery with outdoor plants and seating. It has a really cool back yard that can accomodate this. Something that will close early so as not to inconvenience the surrounding neighbors

JPB, I like your idea...but as a neighbor of the spot-LONGER hours not short ones are preferred. Bakery/deli/coffee/convenience store. yah!

I would love to see something move in here. I walk past it everytime I go to the Green. I agree with the Wawa/convenience store suggestions. The Exxon station doesn't sell milk or other items like that, so it would be very convenient.

I live very close to that location and I can tell you now our neighborhood will NEVER allow a convenience store and rightly so. There's absolutely no need for it and we don't want that in a densely residential neighborhood. You can get milk ANYWHERE in town.
No walking traffic and no parking, so it's a difficult corner. May also be contaminated from the gas station operations. How about grass?
