What Should Occupy the Former Colonial Bar?

The 'for lease' signs have come down; could something be headed its way?

For a while, signs adorned the windows of the former Colonial Bar & Liquors, seeking a new tenant. Recently, however, those signs have come down. So, either this edition of "Occupy This Space" is like the rest or an attempt to fish out details on a new business.

For many, Colonial Bar & Liquors was a neighborhood alternative to flashier libation destinations. While they did not serve food, customers often were welcome to grab a slice (or, a whole pie) from Suvio's and bring it in to enjoy with their pints. People knew people by first name.

And then, after many, many years, it was gone.

Since then, this former watering hole at the corner of Atno and Washington has lain fallow, while its vintage, dusty tables and chairs lay scattered here and there inside.

Whether or not something is in the hopper for this space, we want to know: What would you like to see occupy the former Colonial Bar & Liquors? Chime in below.

It's nice to daydream about what should be in a particular location, but I don't get these articles. It's not like you can take a poll from all of us and the winning idea is what goes in that location.

Not trying to be a downer. Just think it's overkill how for EVERY empty space in Morristown it's asked what should be there.

Morristown could use another bank in this location. The town doesn't have enough banks or bars.

Lousy location, poor parking and high rent..........not a good mix. Not much synergy there. I suspect the landlord regrets the approach they took with the last two tenants, one sold and the other moved.

It was purchased for it's liquor license... which they can now transfer to another location.
