Bike Right and Bike-in!

Starting on Thursday, September 6, Bike and Walk Morristown teams up with TransOptions to have Thursday evening classes to get you riding in the road safely and with confidence.  This weekend is just about fun and we are joining up with our pals at Grow It Green Morristown to host the 4th Annual Bike-in Movie night at the Early Street Garden.

TransOptions will be teaching their Bike Right: Adult Defensive Biking Skills class in Morristown, starting on September 6.  This class meets on 3 Thursday evenings, and by the end of the class, you will know how to navigate in traffic, avoid crashes, fix a flat, and tons of other helpful stuff.

Register online here (click the adult button, and our info suddenly appears!).  There is $35 registration fee, and you can mail it in or drop it off with us at the Bike-In Movie night this Friday at the Early Street Garden.

The feature film is Sourlands:  stories from the fight for sustainability, and New Jersey director Jared Flesher will be on hand to talk about his film.  The film starts 7:30, and Byrdgrass Acoustic Trio will be providing some awesome music before the film, starting at 6:30 pm.   The monthly critical mass bike ride takes off from Town Hall at 6:15.

C'est Cheese is offering to deliver picnic dinners to the garden, if you get your orders in by Thursday, so be sure to check their picnic menu and give them a call.

This class is also great for experienced riders who might want to become a cycling instructor at some point; after taking this class, you can take a test at the end and passing it is the first step on becoming a instructor yourself.

I took this class at the beginning of the summer with my teenage sons. I also recommend it for drivers who are uncomfortable sharing the road with bikes. It is totally worth the time!
