We want you to know more about the girls behind the skates. This week, we put the spotlight on Molotov Cupcake, blocker for the Major Pains. Watch her skate against New Brunswick's Hellrazors Saturday, Nov. 5 at 6:30 pm, at Inline Morristown, 38 Dumont/10 Pine Street. Tickets are available for $12 at the door on bout day. 

How did you hear about roller derby? How did you get involved?
I first heard about roller derby in BUST magazine in an article about the resurgence of the sport in Texas. A couple of years later, after hearing a lot about the Gotham Girls, I went on the internet to see if there were any leagues in my area and here I am today!

What does your derby name say about you?
I'm an amateur baker who specializes in cupcakes. I wanted my name to reflect that but I still wanted it to be a little bit "tough." So I did a play on the explosive Molotov Cocktail, and named myself Molotov Cupcake.

What is your favorite position and why?
I like playing B1 because I enjoy working with the pivot. I like to see how the pivot controls the pack and calls out plays. I'd like to be a great pivot one day. [EDITOR'S NOTE: Not sure what these positions are? Come to a bout and learn!]

Did you ever get any gnarly bruises? How?
My worst bruise was on my behind from a particularly bad backwards fall. It was huge, and the worst part was that I had fallen on my own skate. One part of the bruise was shaped like a toe stop and it was completely black.

What do you want the people of Morristown to know about the sport?
That it's not fixed! It's a real game, a real sport. We are athletes and working really hard out there. We want you to come and have fun because we are certainly having a blast!
