The Jersey Patriots Track Club is seeking kids who love to
run to join our new Cross Country and Track Club. Beginning in early September, the club, based in Mendham and Basking Ridge will be holding practices for girls
and boys from Morris and Somerset counties three times each week and will
participate every Sunday beginning September 16th in the Lakeland Cross Country Meets at Greystone Park in Morris County. The practices will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday evenings in Mendham and Basking Ridge. The Jersey Patriots Track Club are a team member of the USATF (USA Track & Field Association.)
Running is an individual and team sport and The Patriots' goal is for each and every participant to be a winner. It’s not always about coming in first but rather being able to do one’s best and hopefully continue to achieve new personal records. Self confidence and fitness are the team’s objectives and the kid’s success stories are endless. According to the team's Administration Director Bob Hiller, "The kids come first and running and conditioning is taught in a fun, yet competitive environment. It’s
all about friendship and supporting each other. An individual program is custom tailored for each runner. Many of the Patriots team participants have achieved state, regional and national rankings in The Junior Olympics."
The age groups and competitive distances that they will run are as follows: Sub-Bantam (7-8 years old; 1700 meters); Bantam (9-10 years
old; 2K); Midget (11-12 years old; 3K); and Youth 13-14 years old; 4K.)
The team practices together and is led by Coaches Rich and Danielle Grayson. The Graysons have been participating in and coaching track and cross country for many years. Coach Rich has been coaching youth track and cross country since 2005 and has worked with various school districts promoting healthy lifestyles through running. His coaching goes all the way back to 2000 when he began coaching adults in distances of 5K through Marathon. An Ultra-Marathoner himself, Coach Rich trains and mentors other local youth coaches.
He was a varsity runner at Rutgers University in the 400 and 800 and has
been competing for 30+ years in distances ranging from 400 meters to 100 miles.
Coach Danielle, an avid fitness runner for over 20 years, was founder of the
Jefferson Youth Track Program. She has been a youth track and cross country coach for over 6 years and is an AAFA certified personal trainer. Coach Danielle specializes in working with younger athletes new to fitness and works with youth and adult athletes alike in mobility and strength training. In Coach Danielle’s spare time, she volunteers with local school districts promoting fitness and a healthy lifestyle through running. Both Coaches Rich and Danielle have coached several youth regional and national qualifiers and are POSE METHOD running coaches. Now with the Olympics having just been completed and the US having done so well, kids want to emulate the success they have been seeing since July 27th. The Jersey Patriots want to help kids succeed.
