No Idea Newcomers Take Flag Football Title

For some people, the unknown can be scary and exciting all at the same time.

For No Idea's flag football teams, playing a new team unknown to the league proved to be not scary or exciting...just frustrating and filled with losses.

Trying their hand in a new league, JK Fish came in this season and won all of their regular season games, outscoring their opponents 356-54. In their first-round playoff game they allowed 18 points, the most they allowed all season, but it didn't matter as they advanced to the final.

In the title game they would face Balls Deep, a team JK Fish shut out earlier in the season, 42-0. The goal of the top-ranked team was to complete the sweep and take home the title.

Balls Deep started the game with the ball but without getting close to the end zone, had to punt it away. JK Fish would take over, but turned the ball over on downs, which Balls Deep would also do on their next possession.

Still scoreless, JK Fish marched their way down the field, inching closer and closer to the game's first score, but it wasn't meant to be as a tipped pass bounced right into the arms of a Balls Deep receiver for the interception. Balls Deep couldn't capitalize on their lucky bounce, punting the ball on 4th down.

With halftime quickly approaching and a 4th down, JK Fish went for the first down, which they got thanks to the quick thinking and speed of their quarterback. The momentum kept going as JK Fish was the first team to find the end zone and converted on the 2 extra points to go up 8-0 at the half.

In the second half if was all JK Fish as they started the half with the ball and a score and 2-point conversion to go up 16-0. With the ball in their hands, Balls Deep found themselves on the losing side of a tipped interception and JK Fish recovered the ball at the Balls Deep 35 yard line where they would score and convert again to go up 24-0.

Bad luck struck again for Balls Deep as their next possession would be another tipped interception, leading to a JK Fish score to go up 32-0. With one last effort, Balls Deep tried to avoid the shutout, but turned the ball over on downs. JK Fish would score one last time to take the victory, 38-0.

Congratulations to JK Fish on their first No Idea championship and to Balls Deep for a competitive and clean flag football final. Thanks to all of our other teams: Vicious & Delicious, Touchdown My Pants, I'mma Get You Soooooo Pregnant, and SafetyWordOrange.
