Shorthanded Team Wins No Idea Volleyball Championship

Looking at the matchup for Wednesday night's No Idea Sports volleyball final, it would seem both teams were at a disadvantage. Scared Hitless won the right to play in the final by playing in a semi-final right before. They would face Suckatash in the final; a team playing with only 5 players instead of the standard 6.

In game 1, Suckatash jumped out to a quick start, taking a 9-2 lead. The teams would then trade points back and forth for the next 7 points. Suckatash would then win 6 of the next 7 points to go up 18-7. Determined to get some more points on the board, Scared Hitless went on a tear, scoring 16 of the next 18 points to go up 23-20. Trading the next 3 points, Scared Hitless closed out game 1 with a 25-22 victory.

Knowing game 2 was do or die, Suckatash came out hot again, going up 7-1. The game was tight, with Scared Hitless winning 6 points and Suckatash winning 5 of the next 11 points to go up 12-7. Now it was Suckatash's time to get on a hot streak. Thanks to some strong serving, they 13 of the next 17 to take game 2, 25-11.

Suckatash got off to a quick start, scoring 14 points to Scared Hitless' 7. Not to go down without a fight, Scared Hitless went on to score 6 straight points to tighten the score, 14-13. Looking to regain their composure and some points, Suckatash called a time out and won the next point to increase their lead to 2. The game would go back and forth for the next few points and with the championship 1 point away for Scared Hitless, Suckatash quickly took it away by winning the next 3 points and claiming the championship, 22-20.

Congratulations to Suckatash on their win and to Scared Hitless for a very competitive and intense final. Thanks to all of our other teams who played this season: Bodacious Aces, Sets to Thrill, You Got Served, Can You Dig It?, and Angels & Demons.

There's 2 chances for you to play volleyball next season. Registration is open for Monday (starts 11/5) and Wednesday (starts 11/28) leagues at the No Idea website. Both leagues play at the Morristown-Beard School.
