Their Mission:
TeenPride, Inc. , an organization that has been serving our community for 17 years, strives to help young people improve their lives by providing activities and free individual, group and family counseling, so they may build self-esteem and self-reliance and practice healthy lifestyles.
About them:
TeenPride, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that assists youth age 12 through high school graduation from Morristown, Morris Township and Morris Plains in the development of social, educational and vocational skills. Their professionals offer free individual and group counseling, social and recreational activities and study aids through supervised programs to foster the values and abilities teens need to grow and develop into confident, productive adults. There are two segments of TeenPride, Inc: TeenPride Counseling and TeenPride Center.
The Teen Center is an alternative to "no place to go and nothing to do." The Teen Center is a place for youth to find support, friendship, counsel and hope. Their teens live in homes that are stressed out - fractured through divorce, at risk due to immigration status, with parents tired from the demands of working multiple jobs, and living in poverty. Some teens have no one who cares about them or where they are at night. Some have a loving, single parent who is trying to hold their fragile family life together. They are a consistent source of support for the teen and their family.
The Teen Center programs are now at risk of curtailment, due to the loss of a Morris County grant which resulted from federal government cutbacks.
