Due to power problems incurred during SANDY's visit, the following program has been rescheduled for November 17.
Free Screening of "Gasland" at Morristown Unitarian Fellowship!
The Halliburton-developed drilling technology of "fracking" or hydraulic fracturing has unlocked a "Saudi Arabia of natural gas" just beneath us. But is fracking safe? And should New Jersey residents tolerate fracked waste material, which is toxic, to be transported across our busy roads for “processing” at treatment plants in our port cities?
Faced with a lucrative offer to lease his parents’ land in eastern Pennsylvania for natural gas drilling, filmmaker Josh Fox embarks on a cross-country odyssey uncovering a trail of secrets, lies, and contamination. In the recently fracked town of Dimock, PA, well water ignites from an open flame as it pours out of residents’ kitchen faucets. This is just one of the many absurd and astonishing revelations of a new country called GASLAND.
This award-winning film is part verite travelogue, part expose, part mystery, part bluegrass banjo meltdown, part showdown.
Co-sponsored by Green Earth Ministry, Seeds of Peace, and Food and Water Watch.
