Nailed It

A review of Morristown's newest nail salon and comparison with some of its closest competitors.

Like fro-yo shops and pizza places, there is no shortage of nail salons in downtown Morristown.  That didn't stop a new one from opening up on Market Street last month.  Peace Nails and Spa opened on October 10th, located at 27 Market Street.  Having received a coupon from them in the mail, I decided to go in this evening to get my $30 mani/pedi.

Though I'm not a regular customer at any one nail place in town, I've been to a few of them a few times each.  Peace Nails and Spa now has my vote- as long as they're able to keep up the level of service I experienced in my first visit once business picks up.  Their closest competitor is Thee Nail Salon at 1 Maple Avenue.  I've gotten my nails done and eyebrows waxed here a couple of times, but I've walked in and been turned away, asked to come back 45 minutes later much more frequently than I've actually gotten services done.

When that happens I usually say "sure, I'll come back," and then I walk down to Sage Nail Salon & Spa at 37 South Street.  There is almost never a wait, but the almost palpable contempt I often feel coming from the nail techs (it could just be me), paired with my personal aversion to little dogs that have the run of the joint, along with their own tiny furniture, always makes me wonder if I should have walked the extra few blocks to go to Sky Nail Care at 131 South Street.

I don't know how Peace Nails and Spa will fare with so much compeition (the spots I mentioned are just a few, they don't include the higher end salons that offer nail services like Bloom, Suzi's and BC Salon), but the fact that there was no wait, everything looked new and clean, each person I came in contact with called me by my name, and my well-done mani/pedi ended with a longer than usual shoulder rub has at least guaranteed that I will be a repeat customer.
