The Carpenter’s Gift Book signing at the ReStore  

Looking to start a new tradition in your family?  Join us at the Morris Habitat for Humanity ReStore  on December 5th  for a very special event everyone on your holiday list will feel good about, (including you!) 

Author David Rubel will be signing copies of his book The Carpenters’s Gift from 4:30 to 5:30 pm at the ReStore, located at 274 South Salem Street in Randolph. Books are just $12 and you can pre-order your copy online .  If you can’t make the book signing, you can pick up the book at the ReStore at your convenience.

The Carpenter's Gift is beautifully illustrated by Jim LaMarche, and brings together two great traditions: the Rockefeller Center® Christmas Tree and the neighbor-helping-neighbor program of Habitat for Humanity.

Opening in Depression-era New York City, The Carpenter's Gift tells the story of eight-year-old Henry and his father selling Christmas trees. They give a Christmas tree to construction workers building Rockefeller Center® and celebrate together. Through the kindness of the construction workers and neighbors, Henry gets his wish for a nice, warm home to replace his family's drafty shack. He plants a pinecone from that first Rockefeller Center® Christmas Tree. As an old man, Henry repays the gift by donating the enormous tree that has grown from that pinecone. After bringing joy to thousands, its wood is be used to build a home for another family in need.

Did you know last year’s tree came from Flanders, New Jersey and is now residing happily (in the form of supporting beams) inside the home of a Morris Habitat for Humanity family in Budd Lake, NJ!
