Congressman Frelinghuysen joins Honorary Committee for NJ Walks for TS at Mendham

With the 4th annual NJ Walks For TS at Mendham now less than a month away, the New Jersey Center for Tourette Syndrome & Associated Disorders (NJCTS) has announced the formation of an Honorary Committee for the event, which is scheduled to take place Saturday, November 23, at Borough Park in Mendham.

The walk will be a day of advocacy, awareness, acceptance and action geared toward raising funds to support educating students and teachers about TS, anti-bullying initiatives and other important information across the Garden State.

To that end, support has been pouring in from all corners of the state, with each Honorary Committee member demonstrating their firm support for NJCTS and the 1 in 100 kids and families living with Tourette Syndrome – an inherited, misdiagnosed, misunderstood neurological disorder characterized by involuntary sounds and movements known as tics.

Three members of this Honorary Committee hail from the Morristown area -- including Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-NJ11), whose office is in downtown Morristown. Congressman Frelinghuysen's district has been home to NJ Walks for TS at Mendham since its inception in 2010. There are many Tourette Syndrome families living in the Congressman's district, and according to NJCTS, he always has been a stalwart supporter of those families and of the organization itself. Congressman Frelinghuysen also is a co-sponsor of the Collaborative Academic Research Efforts for Tourette Syndrome Act of 2013.

Joining Congressman Frelinghuysen on the NJ Walks For TS Honorary Committee is New Jersey State Senator Anthony R. Bucco (R-25) and New Jersey State Assemblyman Anthony M. Bucco (R-25). The Senator's office is in Denville, which is home to the NJCTS Parent Connection at Morris/Sussex bi-monthly support group meeting at St. Clare's Hospital. The Assemblyman was one of the first to become a member of this Honorary Committee, according to NJCTS.

The rest of the NJ Walks For TS Honorary Committee is populated by sports personalities such as United States Men's National Soccer Team star Tim Howard and WFAN Sports Radio host Craig Carton, and other legislators such as New Jersey Senator Richard J. Codey (D-27) and Congressman Leonard Lance (R-NJ7). More information is available by visiting www.njcts.org.
