DCF Commissioner Visits Somerset Home for Temporarily Displaced Children
New Jersey Department of Children and Families (DCF) Commissioner Allison Blake recently visited Somerset Home (somersethome.org) a nonprofit agency that provides housing and support services to abused, neglected and homeless teenagers and young adults throughout New Jersey. During the visit, Commissioner Blake and NJ DCF chief of staff Barbara Rusen heard about the programs and services Somerset Home provides including the Street Smart street outreach program. Street Smart targets runaway and homeless youth ages 13-21 to help combat human trafficking. The visit also included tours of the transitional living programs which provide housing and support for youth aging out. Somerset Home is based in Bridgewater and has Street Smart offices in Bridgewater, East Orange, Hackensack, and Morristown.
