Successful Morris Habitat 9th Annual Hearts & Hammers Gala

Randolph, NJ:  Morris Habitat for Humanity hosted its 9th Annual Hearts & Hammers Gala on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the Meadow Wood Manor in Randolph, NJ. The event was a great success for raising much needed funds to meet its goals of  building safe and affordable home building programs for families in need. The evening was enjoyed by almost 300 people who not only savored the delicious food and great service at the Meadow Wood Manor, but also danced the night away!!

New Jersey Natural Gas stepped up to support Morris Habitat for Humanity as the Gala's premier sponsor.  Other sponsors included, Journal Sponsors, Actavis, a pharmaceutical company and Investors Bank. Gold Sponsors were Longo Electric, Normandy Real Estate Partners, North Central Jersey Association of Realtors (NCJAR), and Sean and Betsy Monaghan, New Jersey Manufacturers, Provident Bank. The  Silver Sponsors were Lakeland Bank, New York Life, Atlantic Health Systems, Coldwell Brokers, Morris County Affordable Housing Corporation (MAHC), Madison Housing Authority, Peter and Diane Wentworth, and Teeny and Don Kuhn. The Classic Sponsors werre Spencer Savings Bank, Carl F. Ewig, Inc., Seth Leeb Architects, Chubb Volunteers, Metro Builders, Pella Windows, Graham Curtin.

As Blair Bravo, Executive Director of Morris Habitat for Humanity pointed out, “This fund raising event enables us to increase our home building program to more than a dozen homes a year, involving hundreds and hundreds of people. This year alone, we will have 19 homes under construction and can expand our housing solutions program for lower income homeowner families through home repair and one day projects. “

This celebration honored some very special people whose passion and concern for the critical need for affordable housing has given hope to families seeking the American Dream!  Those who have done so much for Morris Habitat during the past year include the following. New Jersey Natural Gas was the recipient of the Corporate Partnership Award. Roberta L. Strater, Executive Director of the Morris County Housing Authority received the Founders Award. David Bossart, President of Bossart Builders, received the 2014 Beth Everett Award and a new category, and the ReStore Pioneer Award went to Eric Lebersfeld, President and Chief Marketing Officer for Capitol Lighting.
