Morristown Garden Club Marks Centennial with Plant Sale

Hundreds of perennials will be for sale, along with trees, shrubs, planters and more

We count down the days to milestones and anniversaries. In two days, the Garden Club of Morristown will be marking its 100th year with a Centennial Celebration Plant Sale.

Founded in 1913, the Garden Club will be at the New Vernon Fire House, 22 Village Road, New Vernon, NJ rain or shine from 8:30 a.m. to 3 pm. Saturday.

“Our Plant Sale is our big fundraiser,” said GCM President Debra Chambliss of Morristown. “The proceeds from the sale are used exclusively to support projects for non-profits in the Morristown area, including Morristown Medical Center, Mt. Kemble Home, Macculloch Hall, and in past years, Morristown Train Station and Jersey Battered Women’s Service.”

Garden Club members have been surveying their gardens to decide which of their plants are ready to be divided and potted up for the sale. Also available will be hundreds of additional perennials plus trees, shrubs, planters, books, and pre-planted baskets, which make ideal Mothers Day gifts.

“Gardens this year need to be repaired and replanted and we are ready to help with great plant material,” says Kathy Shepperly of New Vernon, who is co-chair of the event with Beverly Veale of Morristown.
