Homelessness Up 12% in Morris County, Study Finds

County is home to 3-percent of state's homeless people.

For the second consecutive year, homelessness has risen in Morris County, growing by 12-percent between 2013 and 2014.

According to dailyrecord.com, a point-in-time count conducted Jan. 28 by the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency revealed a total of 389 people from 300 households were homeless, compared to 346 people from 258 households from the year before.

The same study showed a three-year downward trend across the statewide was stopped, as homelessness was up 15.8-percent throughout New Jersey, the report said.
