Man Killed Crossing Morristown Street

John Pirres was crossing the street near 65 Madison Avenue around 7:30 p.m. when he was struck by a 2011 black Dodge Durango, according to a release sent by Acting Morris County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp's office. Pirres was transported to Morristown Medical Center and died there shortly after.

Tires Stolen From Cars on 4 Morristown Streets

Wheels and tires of cars were stolen in four different locations in Morristown, according to Morristown Police Department Capt. Steven Sarinelli.
The incidents happened on Hill Street, Ford Avenue, Franklin Place and Sunset Place.

A new fitness center is coming to Morristown. Mack-Cali Realty Corp. subsidiary Roseland and Woodmont Properties announced that the business No Body Denied has signed a lease for a 10,000-square-foot space in downtown's Shops on the Green that will become a state-of-the-art health club and personal training studio.

Tashmoo Expansion Hearing Set by Morristown Council

The Morristown Town Council will hold a hearing next month on whether to approve the liquor license for the expansion of Tashmoo on DeHart Street. The hearing was scheduled for 7 p.m. April 2 after the council received a letter from Christine D. Conti-Collins objecting to the place-to-place transfer of the license. Under state law, the municipality must hold a public hearing on a transfer if the objection is raised.

St. Patrick's Day Parade a Morris County Tradition

The parade lineup has been released and this year's parade began at noon Saturday, March 9 in front of Kings on South Street. From there it proceeded down South Street and around the green, ending on Atno Avenue.

Pedestrian Killed in Morristown Was FDU Mentor

A 33-year-old man who died after he was struck by an SUV as he crossed Madison Avenue in Morristown was a learning disability specialist at Fairleigh Dickinson University's College at Florham. John Pirres, a hiker and published poet, worked at the school the past five years after graduating from the university, according to his obituary.
