Poll: Persistent Parking Problem In Morristown?

Shortage of lots, side street restrictions and lightning fast meter monitors have residents and visitors vexed.

At Tuesday's meeting of the Morristown mayor and council Dick Tighe was named to a vacancy on the Morristown Parking Authority. Tighe is a formal council member who is filling an unexpired term and he has his work cut out for him.

Mention parking to anyone in Morristown and the reaction received is fairly common. The eyes roll, there is a huff of breath and it is followed by an anecdote or diatribe of their experience finding temporary lodging for their car.

There is the Dehart Street resident who had an elderly relative ticketed for parking in front of their home.

The surgeon who parked in a bank lot between appointments to get a haircut on Elm Street.

The visiting Patch editor in town for a meeting ten minutes too late to feed the meter.

Parking continues to be on the minds if residents and visitors alike. Or is it just a very vocal minority that has issues?
