Are You Ready For the Festival on the Green? Polka Dot! is

Performer primed for the weekend's festivities in Morristown.

Editor's note: The following was written by POLKA DOT! - Ron Albanese

Hey Everyone - I'm POLKA DOT! Well, I'm also school teacher and parent, Ron Albanese. For the last fourteen years, as POLKA DOT! I have been doing music and comedy family shows all over the greater Tri-State area. This weekend, along with my POLKA DOT PALS! band I will be performing at the Morristown Festival on The Green. Starting at 12:30 p.m. I be circulating the festival with my trusty "Mr. Guitar!," meeting and greeting, and musically entertaining.

Speaking of music, at 1:30 I will join the aforementioned 'Pals at the Morristown Medical Center Family Stage to do an hour-long, 100% Kiddie Rock 'n' Roll™ show. Warning: we don't hand out shakers, we don't sit in a circle, we do energetic and catchy tunes that everyone from ages 2-200 will enjoy (I mention that last number in case there are any last-minute medical breakthroughs at the center). There are no songs about learning to tie shoes, or what it's like to be a salt shaker - although a surfin' bird may show up. We're pure escapist fun - please come and dance, sing, and laugh along!

It's awesome to be able to perform at the Festival on The Green, because the more I think about it, Morristown, is a pretty rockin' place. The Mayo Performing Arts Center has hosted the likes of Cheap Trick (who rule), and other fine rock 'n' roll acts - I've seen Frankie Valli there. Places like the Famished Frog are supporting the best up and coming live acts (like Rainbow Fresh).

Heck, the area even receives the signal of "the rock of North Jersey," WDHA, nice and clearly. The local annual Farmer's Market (love those pickles) features live entertainment, too. On a personal note, I actually bought my first-ever guitar at the now-sadly defunct Star Music … anyone remember that great store? I bet many of you have picked up instruments there, too.

Besides that and between bunches of private shows (like birthday parties) and the aforementioned farmer's market and the like, Morristown and I go way back, and it's an honor to come back.

You're invited - are you coming? Hope to see you at the Festival on The Green!
