Arts Council Again Receives Honors

It is the 14th year in a row the State Council on the Arts has given them the award.

On Jan. 25, for the 14th consecutive year, the New Jersey State Council on the Arts honored the with the prestigious "Citation of Excellence" award and designation as a major service organization “for demonstrating a solid history of artistic excellence, substantial programming, leadership and broad public service, receiving superior review through the Council’s peer panel grant review process.” 

These awards, the State Arts Council’s most prestigious marks of distinction, are designated based on grant application review and conferred upon the Arts Council of the Morris Area for the duration of the grant period for which funding is received.

Steve Runk, executive director of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts said, “We congratulate your organization for receiving one of the Council’s highest awards of distinction … thank you for all you do to bring the arts to the people of New Jersey.”

“It is a thrill and a privilege to receive this recognition of our work from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts,” said Anne Aronovitch, executive director of the Arts Council of the Morris Area. “We feel that these two awards affirm the importance of our work in the community.” 

The New Jersey State Council on the Arts is a division of the NJ Department of State. It receives funding in direct appropriations from the State of New Jersey through a dedicated Hotel/Motel Occupancy fee and grants from the National Endowment for the Arts. Since 1966, its volunteer members and professional staff have worked to improve the quality of life in New Jersey by helping the arts to flourish.

The Arts Council of the Morris Area is a private not-for-profit organization founded in 1973 and long dedicated to enriching the community through the arts.  It fulfills its mission to bring the arts to the center of community life through arts education, arts programming, arts advocacy and support for artists and arts organizations
