Completely Booked: First Morristown Book Festival Set for September

Two-day event will be free to the public; attendees can meet more than a dozen authors in a variety of genres.

Dining, shopping and the arts. All great amenities offered in the Morris County seat of Morristown.

But what about books?

The first-ever Morristown Festival of Books is scheduled for the final weekend in September, bringing 17 authors to the area for presentations, questions and answers, and signings. The festival will also feature a keynote speaker at the Mayo Performing Arts Center, according to morristownfestivalofbooks.org.

The list of authors will be announced in June, the website said, and tickets to see the keynote speaker can be purchased through the performing arts center for $20.

William D. Cohan, author of The Price of Silence: The Duke Lacrosse Scandal, the Power of the Elite, and the Corruption of Our Great Universities will take on the role of keynote speaker Friday night, September 26. The presentation will be followed by a question and answer session with the Duke University alumnus.

The festival will go on throughout the day Saturday, September 27 as well, with venues at the Morristown and Morris Township Library, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Mayo Performing Arts Center, Parish House of the Presbyterian Church, and on the lawn of the Vail Mansion.

All events outside Cohan’s presentation will be free, the website said.
