John Reinking will host his Sixth Annual Open House and Sale of functional and sculptural ceramics.  The Open house will be held Columbus Day weekend, October 6th and 7th from 11 am  to 4 pm each day. This will be the last year at this location as we have moved. Please join us next year in Pittstown NJ.

John Reinking is one of the more prominent ceramicists working in the area.  His forms are organic and contemporary, while his palette is very earthy in nature.  His Open House will feature a variety of his functional ceramics, approximately 800 pieces all created by the artist. Some of these pieces are fired in a traditional gas kiln, while some others are finished in a kiln that was built by the artist. The latter is fired with propane and wood and creates uniquely beautiful pieces unlike any other and result in numerous one of a kind objects.  In addition some of the pieces are created with commercially available clay and a portion of the one of a kind pieces have been created with native clay that he dug locally.

John Reinking is a Berkeley Heights native, and graduate of Governor Livingston High School class of 1996. He graduated with a BFA from Rutgers University, Mason Gross School of the Arts. He then continued his studies and received a MFA from Marywood University . He currently teaches at Raritan Valley Community College in Branchburg, NJ as well as County College of Morris, in Randolph, NJ.

This year John was honored to have been invited to write an article for the International Woodfiring Magazine, The Log Book. His article entitled, Experiments in Suburban Woodfiring is a follow up to his talk at  NCECA (National Council for the Education in the Ceramic Arts) in Tampa, Florida two years ago. His topic there  was “Suburban Wood and Soda Firing” and was well attended in excess of 450 people. He was also included in the Lark Books publication “500 Raku”, in which they published one of his Raku Vases. He is currently represented by Peter’s Valley Gallery in Layton NJ as well as Connexions Gallery in Easton, PA. In addition, he exhibits in a variety of group exhibitions per year. His ceramic work is held in numerous private national and international collections.
