Baseball season is upon us and Mr. Zinn joins us to speak about “New Jersey Base ball during the Civil War Era, 1855-1870”. Base ball, as it was written at the time, came to New Jersey in the 1850’s and grew rapidly throughout the Civil War era. This talk describes the game’s early beginnings in New Jersey, prominent teams and players. The impact of the war on the game’s development in New Jersey and how New Jersey soldiers took the new game with them to the front will also be discussed.
