'Got Talent' Audience to Get VIP Treatment

Attendees will walk the red carpet like the stars.

Just because the talent will be onstage doesn’t mean the audience can’t be treated like stars.

For the first time in its seven-year history, Morristown’s Got Talent will offer a VIP experience to its attendees. The Morris Educational Foundation, the group organizing the event, has announced that audience members for Wednesday night’s annual talent contest, will enter the Mayo Performing Arts Center by walking the red carpet and taking part in interviews with Tara Bernie of Access Hollywood.

Sixteen acts have been chosen for the contest after 70 auditioned. A $1,000 cash prize is on the line for first place, with $500 for second place and $250 for third.

This year’s master of ceremonies, Bernie, will speak with attendees and acts alike on the red carpet prior to the show, which begins at 7 p.m.

Last year’s event raised more than $50,000 for the Morris Education Foundation.

“We have been thinking about how often people get to walk the red carpet into a premier arts venue such as the Mayo Performing Arts Center. We want to give our community this fun experience,” said Morris Education Foundation Board Member Kim Pistner.
